Project Platypus is a community and volunteer-based initiative.  It was auspired by a group of local conservationists and the directors of NFP Renewable Energy Solutions (www.nfpenergysolutions.com.au) that aims to undertake building projects for the purposes of data collection and demonstrating clean energy building strategies to the broad public.

We also aim to stimulate public enthusiasm by posting articles and videos that catalogue all of our activities. In addition to being volunteer based, we place emphasis on giving disadvantaged people an opportunity to participate in a worthwhile cause, but it is open for anyone who has a keen interest in clean energy building. In the medium to long term, we aim to cultivate relationships with public and private organisations who have a commitment to clean energy, with the purpose of collaborating on clean energy research for the benefit of the industry and all of its consumers and enthusiasts. This could include retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, builders and educational institutions at all levels.

The aim of project Platypus will make it easier for people to gain access to clean energy information and resources, and to live a lifestyle that meets the needs of this planet along with their own.

How did Project Platypus evolve?

A friendly chat with a local farmer in Delamere, South Australia allowed the project idea to become more obtainable.

One hundred Acres of property was allocated to a national forestry company in 2003.  Which they planted over 3000 Blue Gum sapplings for harvesting in 2011.  In a direct link to the Global Financial crisis the logging firm filed for bankruptcy, leaving the trees on the farmers property.

Our abundant supply of building supplies allows us to source our needed wood locally and environmentally.

A sponsorship of large corporate sponsors such as NFP Renewable Energy Solutions, MSR/Bosch, Eltek Valere & Delta Solaire make this a feasiable project a reality with real results both environmentally and on a community level.
